Does the previous iTunes library on my mac contain the photos too?

I wiped my mac of all pics to create disc space as everything was backedup on apple TV but then my kid accidentally synced apple TV to iTunes now they are not on the ATV and in iphoto they are just thumbnails I cannot view full screen have I lost everything? Please if you can help do!
