Does iOS 5 make the "Remote" app useless?

I have an IPad 2 64gb Wifi +3G and I am looking forward to the new iOS 5 update.I'm going to be buying an Apple TV 2nd Gen and I was looking foward to controlling it with my iPad's remote app. This fall apple is introducing AirPlay Mirroring which allows you to connect the iPad 2 to an HD TV. My question is does that make the UI of ATV 2 pointless including the Remote app since you can stream itunes content using Home Sharing or will anyone still us the ATV 2 as a stand alone media device and control it with the Remote app?
